Via Latvia

Latvia is located in a perfect geographical position and historically this territory has been an important trade way between Europe and Asia. It still remains central to strategically relevant transportation corridors connecting major world economies like European Union, Russia, USA and Far East.
The transit sector is very important industrial sector for the Latvian economy, nearly 90% of turnover in Latvian ports is transit.  There are three major ice-free ports: Liepaja, Ventspils and Riga as the biggest one.

Road network of Latvia is well-developed and new projects are still in progress. The Via Baltica as an European transport corridor (route E67) is the most important transport road, traversing Latvia in north-south direction.

Riga International Airport is the largest international aviation centre in the Baltic states. From Riga is possible to fly to more than 70 destinations.

External border with Russia and Belorus is very important because of potential transit function of Far East cargo via the Trans-Siberian railway connection to western Europe.
